This is the first show from Belka Productions. The company is based in London and was founded by actors Oliver King and Rosy Benjamin, with the aim of creating bold, physically expressive and imaginative productions of Russian texts that have rarely been presented to English audiences.

A warm, tender and wryly charming tale of love behind the Iron Curtain, the play charts the blossoming relationship between a Russian boy and a beautiful Polish singer following a chance encounter at a concert hall in post war Moscow. But in Stalin’s brutally controlled empire their love simply cannot be, and over the span of two decades of missed opportunities and thwarted beginnings, from Moscow to Warsaw and back again, their passionate desire matures into an altogether different and more moving kind of love.
A WARSAW MELODY was written in 1967 and was performed some 4000 times in its first year alone. It is one of the most frequently staged plays in Russia and, previously, the Soviet Union. It has been performed in over 150 Russian cities. Already a worldwide sensation having been staged all over Europe, Canada and the United States, Zorin’s timeless story of the fragility of love in a loveless land finally makes its way to the UK.
